A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS
Getting connected should feel simple.
A LAN messenger connects people on the same local network, such as a home Wi-Fi network, office or classroom. LanCom lets Windows PCs and Android phones exchange direct messages, profile pictures and files without sending the conversation through a cloud relay.
Not for local messages or file transfers. Both devices need to be on a network that lets them reach each other. You’ll need internet access to download the apps from this website once public downloads are available.
That’s the goal of the current compatibility update: direct messages, presence, profile pictures and encrypted file transfers. The preview is being tested against the Windows protocol; real-phone and Wi-Fi checks are part of release preparation.
Open LanCom on both devices and connect them to the same LAN or Wi-Fi. Guest Wi-Fi and client isolation can prevent devices from seeing one another. On Windows, allow LanCom on your trusted private network. Keep Android’s LAN connection enabled.
Conversation history is stored on your device. Transfers go directly between peers. On Android, you approve incoming files and choose a save location after they arrive. Use a trusted network and share your profile picture only when you want others to see it.
It depends on your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, storage, device load and file size. LanCom streams data in bounded chunks; this site doesn’t promise a particular latency or transfer rate.
